GOOD CAPITALISM, BAD CAPITALISM: CURRENTLY THE BAD CAPITALISM IS THE AMERICAN DREAM!

Sunday, March 30th, 2014

Sam Walton’s family became 10 of the richest people in the USA by enslaving workers at minimum wage, part time employment, and no benefits.

That is a prime example of “filthy rich”. Is that really the “American Dream”?

There are 2 kinds of capitalism. One is giving an individual the Right to prosper from his own ingenuity and inventiveness; and, the other is “predatory” capitalism to prosper at the brutal expense of the desperate and make profit by denying quality services and products to the consumer in a laissez-faire society.

Unfortunately American capitalism has become the latter.

God weeps for America! Raising the minimum wage is currently a very small step toward achieving some form of capitalistic righteousness in America!

GUESS WHO WOULD PROFIT MOST FROM THE KEYSTONE XL PIPELINE ACROSS AMERICA?

“The Koch Industries subsidiary holds leases on 1.1 million acres — an area nearly the size of Delaware — in the oil sands region of Alberta, Canada, according to an activist group that studied Alberta provincial records. The Post confirmed the group’s findings with Alberta Energy, the provincial government’s ministry of energy. Separately, industry sources familiar with oil sands leases said Koch’s lease holdings could be closer to two million acres. The company with the next biggest collection of oil sands leases is Conoco Phillips.” http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/03/20/1286250/-Guess-who-s-the-major-stakeholder-in-Canada-s-oil-sands-Of-course-it-s-the-nbsp-Kochs

WEALTHY REPUBLICAN PURCHASE OF THE NEXT US PRESIDENT IN 2016 BY THE 1% WEALTHIEST AMERICANS, CAN END DEMOCRATIC ELECTIONS AND DEMOCRACY IN AMERICA

Friday, March 28th, 2014

Today’s news is the buying of a Reublican President of the USA for 2016, by virtue of the US Supreme Court’s “Citizens United Decision”, that made the US statutory election laws unconstitutional.

“Republican super donor Sheldon Adelson is the main attraction for White House hopefuls as the Republican Jewish Coalition begins its annual “spring leadership meeting” Thursday along the city’s storied strip, the site of Adelson’s Venetian resort hotel and casino.”
“Adelson gave the pro-Romney super PAC $15 million in four months before the last presidential election.”
“Adelson is considered one of the 10 richest people in the world, with a net worth exceeding $40 billion, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index.” http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/27/sheldon-adelson-vegas_n_5041373.htmlhttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/27/sheldon-adelson-vegas_n_5041373.html

It is indeed difficult, for those who love America, democracy, and the US Constitution to see the American majority, the working Middle Class, lose their “Power of the Ballot” in America. But that is exactly what the five extremist Republican Supreme Court Justices wrought for America, in the Court’s “Citizens United” decision.

“Citizens United” struck down election statutes enacted to prevent ‘buying of elections’, that was enacted by a bipartisan Congress. The issue today, is obviously not bipartisan.

In 2010, the Republican Party extremists were able to buy State Governors and State Legislators elections and to Gerrymander Congressional districts to virtually take over America by the Republican minority; in 2012, extremist Republicans bought and maintained control of State Governments but failed to buy the Presidency. Republicans are still outraged that they failed to buy the Presidency, despite spending millions in the most expensive Presidential election ever.

With wealthy Corporate America controlling the media and publicity, the huge political contributions by the wealthiest Americans to Republican candidates, and Republican “Voter Suppression Laws”, the Midterm elections in 2014 and the Presidential Elections of 2016 are going to be decisive in determining if the American democracy will survive; without democratic elections, democracy cannot exist in the United States of America.

America is well on its way to becoming a “Plutocratic Oligarchy” casting out democracy and the U.S. Constitutional government “Of the People, By the People, and For the People”.

The Adelson article is the most important news of the day.

TOO MANY PRESCHOOLERS SUSPENDED FROM SCHOOL: THE SOLUTION

Sunday, March 23rd, 2014

Today, I read in the news about “Concern that too many Preschoolers, were being suspended from school and too many of the suspended were Black children”. http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/suspending-preschoolers

The big question in my mind is “why” were preschoolers suspended, how did preschoolers behave that caused them to be suspended; were the preschoolers behaving like their teachers and yelling at someone and making demands? Hmmmm? There is an obvious easy solution for that!

PRAISE THE LORD AND PASS THE AK-47, AND AMERICA WILL LIVE IN HARMONY!

Friday, March 21st, 2014

Today I reacted to a post on my face book about proposed Georgia gun laws; God and guns are all that’s important and Georgians (and Americans) should be allowed to carry guns anywhere, including carrying guns in church: http://www.msnbc.com/all-in/watch/a-state-gun-bill-the-nra-applauds-199470147593

Here is my comment for all it’s worth:
Is America a “Kill or Be Killed”, purported “civilization”? Kill, kill, kill and hate, hate, hate, for Divine Guidance! Jesus is good and carries an AK-47!

The Eleventh Commandment, “Thou shalt carry an AK-47”! Hallelujah!

The Biggest Guns can replace divorce in America, settle contract dispute, or determine disagreement about the Immaculate Conception! Vote “Gun Republican”! God bless Spiral Agnew!

What is the real America all about; what ever happened to Jefferson, Franklin, and Washington? What ever happened to American democracy? Whatever happened to Adam and Eve and the Good Samaritan?

What the hell happened to my America; where have all the flowers gone?

THE SPECTER THREAT TO THE AMERICAN WEALTHY; TAKE A MOMEMT TO PRAY FOR THE AMERICAN WEALTHY!

Wednesday, March 19th, 2014

A news item today started me thinking; that is always dangerous, of course.

As for me, I was born into the Great Depression and grew up knowing that I was poor and frankly I never worried about losing my social status; my parents worried about feeding us kids, but really I never gave wealth much thought. That’s the way I grew up.

My father was so proud of me being the first of our family to have a college education. Then, he freaked out when I told him my plan was to teach school. I will never forget his reaction, “Why would you choose to teach public school,” he exclaimed, “I am a common laborer, and I earn more money than teachers do?”

But, I could not identify with my father’s dreams for me; I never had a savings in my life and while attending a private university to become a teacher, my tuition was a day to day question for me who worked all night to attend the university in the daylight.

My only purpose for my life’s ambition was to allow kids to attend public school without having the “bad” experiences that I encountered from some sadistic public school teachers who chose to teach school for some terrible, ridiculous reason. Admittedly, this was not totally rational thinking on my part, based on American values represented in today’s American society.

Now, I am a long retired school teacher; I pay my rent and have enough of my pension left to buy food. Seemingly, I have no worries. I’m a very lucky person but I am not a wealthy person; all my life, I paid Social Security and paid for a teacher’s pension. I presumed that I had paid my dues!

Today, I appreciate not having to go to work; but I miss those wonderful kids and sometimes I wish I could afford to pay the school to let me teach. I can’t afford it.

So this is in the news today:
“Ben White and Maggie Haberman report this morning that the political winds seem to have shifted lately in the One Percenters’ direction. Whereas a few months ago, economic populism looked like it’d give Democrats a boost in 2014, and polls showed strong public support for addressing economic inequality, Wall Street and its allies are feeling more confident.

“In two-dozen interviews, the denizens of Wall Street and wealthy precincts around the nation said they are still plenty worried about the shift in tone toward top earners and the popularity of class-based appeals…. But wealthy Republicans – who were having a collective meltdown just two months ago – also say they see signs that the political zeitgeist may be shifting back their way and hope the trend continues.

“I hope it’s not working,” Ken Langone, the billionaire co-founder of Home Depot and major GOP donor, said of populist political appeals. “Because if you go back to 1933, with different words, this is what Hitler was saying in Germany. You don’t survive as a society if you encourage and thrive on envy or jealousy.”

This all caused me to wonder, does the Christian Church have a Holy Day where all God fearing Christians spend a day praying for the rich to overcome the threat of the poor to their wealth?

TEACHING EXELLENCE IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN AMERICA! WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT!

Tuesday, March 18th, 2014

It seems to me, as a lifetime career public school teacher, that any public school teacher who begins the day and each lesson with the question, “Why is it necessary for us to learn our lesson for today?” qualifies as a teacher of excellence, provided the students respond and, students never seem to fail to respond to that question!

Other necessary qualities of a teacher of excellence, is that the teacher must maintain or use no known form of punishment for students, the teacher must be an excellent role-model, and the teacher must demand students respect every other student and the teacher while in the classroom and maintain proper social decorum.

Of course, every teacher must also meet minimum State requirements for public school teachers.

Teaching excellence is so easy, yet unfortunately, there are too few. Pity!

Note: Standardized Achievement Tests have nothing to do with teaching excellence!

NSA SURVELLANCE VS. HONESTY, WHO WINS IN THIS 21ST CENTURY AMERICA; IS HONESTY EVER A VIRTURE? WHEN?

Sunday, March 16th, 2014

Once in a rare news item involving me, a local newspaper editor, Si Cassidy, said in the story of me, “Dick Blankenburg wears his heart on his sleeve”; I did not know whether this was a compliment or complaint, and that is how naïve I have always been and still am. However, it stuck with me and since I have given it a lot more thought.

Recently, there has been a lot of ink about NSA surveillance spying on Americans in order to detect foreign terrorist, terrorist like the Boston Marathon Terrorists, as well as domestic terrorists like Timothy McVeigh, and any other terrorists who have roots in American society. Our government’s NSA surveillance was a secret that was illegally made public by a Libertarian political fanatic named Snowden, who was employed by the U.S. Government and sworn to keep America’s secrets which he did not.

Consequently, a lot of Americans resented our American Government surveillance of our phone calls, email, and communications, despite the Patriot Act and the constitutionally legal warrants obtained by the NSA to do this surveillance.

In Response, President Obama said he had to make a difficult decision; the surveillance was generally reprehensible to Americans but the NSA said that it effectively protected Americans from all sorts of terrorists. Wow, I would not want to be in President Obama’s shoes, despite the fact that I “wear my heart on my sleeve” and the NSA surveillance does not threaten me at all.

Presumably, had I been a movie star, a corporate CEO, or a foreign terrorist, I would feel much different about NSA surveillance; but me, I “wear my heart on my sleeve”, and I don’t care!

So today, I feel much better about being consider American Homo Sapiens who “wears his heart on his sleeve”; I honestly now believe it is a badge of honesty and no one else who is honest has any fear of me.

Granted, honesty does not appear to amount to much in my modern 21st Century America and the world, but to this old decrepit American it is probably the only honor he earned, honestly!

THE PEACE AND GRACE IN A GOOD LIFE FROM BEING ALLOWED TO REFRAIN FROM “GROWING UP”!

Sunday, March 9th, 2014

Fortunately, I was a mature 17 year old and given permission to never get any older.

My beloved parents allowed me to maintain my childlike attitudes and faith and not become an adult afflicted with Madison Avenue, American media, and American predatory capitalism.

Dollars are not every American’s Dream, I discovered.

Everything I have learned since age 17, I learned from perspective of a 17 year old.

At this state of my life, I am content and happy at 83 years of age. God is good!

AMERICA’S LIBERTY, AND GOD BLESS AMERICA! AND, WHOSE ON FIRST BASE?

Sunday, March 9th, 2014

Liberty is defined as limited freedom; or, freedom to the extent you do not infringe upon the freedom of others. That definition is very, very important.

That’s what liberty means in the motto: “Equality, Fraternity, and Liberty”. If two people do not understand liberty to mean the same thing, they are not communicating.

In America, liberty as defined in the Constitutional Bill of Rights, protects the minority in our democracy from the tyranny of the majority; liberty is a most important aspect of democracy.

Absolute freedom, is for libertarians and would result in laissez faire, chaos, mayhem, and disaster.

We live on this earth with other people who are by nature entitled to some consideration and/or compassion. And, “No man is an island.”

There is a place among humanity for compassion; that is the religious or philosophical aspects of humanity.

Likewise, capitalism is good for society if it means ‘freedom for an individual to profit from his own creativity and ingenuity’; but capitalism is bad if it means destroying the competition.

Competition is good in a foot race of equally endowed individuals, but not in all aspects of life.

If society is to meet the needs of all People, cooperation is the key and not competition.

There is a big difference in people being driven by compassion and people being driven by profits. Christianity and American Capitalism are opposites; that is a problem for America.

When Christianity consisted of Jesus Christ as an itinerant preacher, his word served humanity. When the modern church incorporated, Jesus Christ became a business and a commodity.

Today there are so many, many brands of Christianity that Jesus Christ means anything from ‘contentment in life on earth’ to ‘Second Amendment Rights to own an assault Rifle’, depending upon the individual incorporated Church’s marketing tool.

Life in America’s democracy is not easy; life isn’t simple, either.
