This is my comment on a headline commentary by Leslie Gelb in the Daily Beast entitled “Beware the Muslim Brotherhood.” At:$Y55&om_mid=_BNRYMcB8X6sDcY

Leslie Gelb is full of BS; he talks nonsense.

Does Gelb have any idea what kind of reputation and influence America has in the Mid East. America has supported all the tyrannical dictators in the Muslim World and invaded Iraq for no legitimate reason and executed Saddam who, though was a ruthless dictator like all other governments in the Mid East that America supports, Saddam was the only SECULAR ruler in the Mid East and he protected Christians in Iraq.

For diplomatic purposes, tyrants often had to be recognized but America USED the tyrants; ordinary Muslim citizens who suffered under those tyrants are well aware of this which is why America is hated and terrorized.

The incentive of bin Laden for 911, though it doesn’t excuse his atrocity, was America defiling the Muslim Holy Land of Saudi Arabia by putting an American military base there (President Papa Bush’s bad in 1991). The only influence America has in the Mid East is with tyrants like Mubarak that America has bought off with foreign and military aid; Mubarak is the tyrant to whom President Junior Bush, W, sent prisoners to be tortured. It is Mubarak who the Egyptian people are protesting today; Mubarak’s people protest his corruption and villainy. Can a sane person not know the reason why ordinary Muslims would hate America.  America’s influence is with villainous Muslim tyrants and not with the ordinary Muslim people of the Mid East.

Gelb is condemning the Muslim Brotherhood which is a non violent organization: “The Brotherhood’s stated goal is to instill the Qur’an and Sunnah as the “sole reference point for … ordering the life of the Muslim family, individual, community … and state”.[3] Since its inception in 1928 the movement has officially opposed violent means to achieve its goals.”

The Muslim Brotherhood condemned bin Laden’s 911 attack and condemned the al Queda attack on the Egyptian Coptic Christian Church recently. The Gelb article is ridiculous.

Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives has notified Americans that “America is broke”.  If Speaker Boehner really believes that America is broke he should consider getting rid of America’s biggest liabilities and selling off some of America’s prime assets.

It seems simple to me, I would suggest that America can balance the budget if America immediately withdaraws ALL troops from Iraq and Afghanistan AND Europe AND Japan AND Columbia and everywhere else where America is  fighting secret wars.  Then, America can sell off that prime government ocean front property called Camp Pendleton just North of San Diego because without Marines we won’t need it.  America can also sell off Yellowstone Park and “privatize” it in the same motion.

However, Speaker Boehner appears to have a serious psychiatric problem; he can’t make up his damn mind.  One minute he tries to convince Americans that America is the richest country in the world and the next minute he is trying to convince Americans that America is broke and penniless.

This guy Boehner has a real psychiatric problem and he needs professional help; thank God his Congressional Health Plan covers it if he doesn’t have pre-existing conditions and it would appear that he probably does.

Truly,  America’s biggest problem is that voters keep electing Republican nut-cases to Congress who are predisposed not to do anything positive and actually just reject everything the people elect them to do.  It is now a national catastrophe.

Comcast, the new owner of NBC, now calls itself NBC International and at an internal celebration, Comcast eliminated the NBC Peacock from the new logo to the chagrin of some NBC employees (employees that does not include Keith Olberman,, of course).$Y55&om_mid=_BNQsiXB8X5wvvA

You can kiss the peacock’s ass goodbye; it is in the cross hairs of the Comcast gun sights; NBC is now an adjunct of Faux News and Murdoch. Today’s news is what Corporate America wants you to hear; corporate advertising is the life blood of the media! Today, Americans are what Corporate America wants them to be!

America has been bought just like NBC; wealth is power; no doubt about it. The current new House of Representatives is the best Congress that foreign and Corporate American money can buy; thanks to America’s politicized Supreme Court and it Citizens United decision.

God bless America’s dollar; in God we trust. America’s ass now belongs to Corporate America!

This 2011 State of the Union Address was a hoot! Republicans and Democrats sitting side by side like elementary school students was hilarious! I was expecting spit balls any minute.

Without the wide divide and obvious jump-up-and-clap alarm, everyone was confused. Poor Faux News viewers didn’t know when to yell YEAH or CRAP!

My own conclusion was rather ho-hum; personally, I think America is in deep doo-doo and nothing changed last night.

My greatest feeling of disgust was in the rebuttal when Republican Congressman Ryan talked about the Republicans creating jobs; it was the Republicans free trade and NAFTA that sent all the jobs overseas and to Mexico. The Republicans are not employers; their Corporate America contributors are the employers and the whole issue of American economy is profits versus Labor costs.  Foreign labor is cheap; most Americans are employees of some kind.

Until America can stop sending jobs out of America, American workers will be unemployed, penniless, and non-consumers; the American economy will be poo poo and the Middle class will sink down to the poverty level and the distribution of wealth in America will be even more inequitable.

In America it is always a continuing war between employers and employees and the Republicans represent the employers. Labor was emasculated by the Republican Taft-Hartly ACT in 1948 and other Republican Anti-Union and free trade Legislation and that is where America stands now.  Without legislation governing equity in Labor Relations and job security, Labor must resort to its only alternative, strikes and Labor strife to protect American workers’ jobs.  This means America is really in deep poo poo.

The present distribution of wealth in America has reached a crisis level; the rich are getting richer, the middle class is disappearing, and the poverty level is rising.

Personally, I am sorely afraid that until there is a physical uprising of American workers, and most Americans are workers, America will be in a deep economic funk. Today, American Labor is desperate and that is obvious.

The delicate balance of the American economy is represented by employers having the wealth and Labor resorting to violence to protect their jobs and survival.

Unfortunately, the stupid Democrats need to empower Labor and they have totally lost their mojo.

President Obama refers to labor as whiners. He doesn’t seem to understand it was the whining Labor voters who elected him.  Too bad that President Obama never had to work for a living; consequently, he just doesn’t understand the whining constituency that elected him and why they are whining.

Only because I am old, am I able to compare Faux News to the Nazi propagandist Goebbels, Faux News to the North Korean Communist brain washing of American prisoners of war, and Faux News to the methods of propaganda to take over American government by the John Birch Society as outlined in the John Birch Society Bluebook (1961).   Faux News is a perfect fit.

Americans do not seem to remember where they heard this before. Holy crap! It was history books! Faux News is simply the propaganda wing of the Republican Party.

Some Americans will believe anything Faux News says if it makes their total political ignorance appear to be the normal which it is not; they cling to birth certificates not proving where you were born, if you belong to a Christian Church you are a Muslim because you once lived with Muslims, and if you approve of the United States Post Office then you are a Communist. You would think they were talking about me but no, they are actually talking about the President of the United States of America. Holy crap!

Politics is all about power; power is all about wealth.  The Republicans and Rupert Murdoch and Faux News have all the wealth of America at their disposal. Unfortunately our founding fathers could not perceive of trillions of dollars of debt, or millions of dollars in a campaign fund. That is where Jefferson missed the boat and that is why American democracy is being flushed down the toilet.

It is plutocrats who oppose redistribution of the wealth; it means their loss of power and control!  Basically, Wal Mart owns America!  America is no longer, government by the people; the American people are merely customers.

Say goodbye to democracy America, it was a wonderful thought; now a memory.

The Republicans have now repealed the Obama Health Care Reform in the House of Representatives.

  1. Republicans in Congress just voted to raise health insurance premiums, take away prescription drug benefits, and allow insurance companies to cut off coverage to Americans with pre-existing conditions
  2. And–

  3. These cuts didn’t apply to the health insurance plans Republican members of Congress receive.

Every year on Martin Luther King Day, I grieve when I am reminded of the ignorance of Americans in regard to this great man’ wisdom and knowledge. Martin Luther King’s greatness is not in providing workers with ‘a day off’. Dr. King is more than reason for a barbeque celebration. And, believe it or not, Martin Luther King is much, much more than his speech, “I have a dream”, in spite of the elegance and the beauty of those words.

Most Americans have no idea that this man was a great intellect, a scholar, and a Holy man of deep spiritual insight. Americans of my age can remember his coffin being carried to the grave in a farm wagon pulled by a mule; it was a tribute to his simplicity. It was through his material simplicity that he conveyed his social and spiritual wisdom to all common Americans.

Here on this day, I would like to share a few poignant quotes of Dr. King, from the book, A Knock at Midnight. For me, these are words especially for America’s deeply troubled times today; these words need to be heard by American patriots of any and all religious  beliefs on this Dr. Martin Luther King Day. They are a light that has seemingly to me, have been hidden under a bushel.

These quotes below are from a sermon in which Dr. King speaks to America, as he would perceive the Apostle St. Paul speaking to America today. They are inspiring words for Americans of all faiths. Here are just a very few excerpts from St. Paul the Apostle’s Letter to Americans as imagined by Dr. Martin Luther King.

“Through your scientific genius, you have made of the world a neighborhood, but through your moral and spiritual genius you have failed to make of it a brotherhood.”

“I am afraid that many among you are more concerned with making a living than making a life. You are prone to judge the success of your profession by the index of your salary and the size of the wheel-bas of your automobile than the quality of your service to humanity.”

“The misuse of capitalism can also lead to tragic exploitation. . . . They tell me that one tenth of one percent of the population controls more than forty percent of the wealth. Oh America, how often you have taken necessities from the masses to give luxuries to the classes. If you are truly a Christian Nation you must solve this problem.”

“You may have the gift of prophesy and understanding of all mysteries. You may be able to break into the storehouse of nature and bring out many insights than men never dreamed were there. You may ascend to the heights of academic achievement, so that you will have all knowledge. You may boast of your great institutions of learning and boundless extent of your degrees. But all of this amounts to absolutely nothing devoid of love.”

“Without love benevolence becomes egotism, and martyrdom becomes spiritual pride.”

And, these final words are mine; God bless the American democratic Republic and the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Gov. Christie of New Jersey is a fool, a politician, and an enemy of public education; evidently, Gov. Christie would like to eliminate public schools and democracy from New Jersey.

“Chris Christie Takes on Education Reform; ‘The Time To Eliminate Teacher Tenure Is Now’.”

Gov. Christie is determined to increase the number of charter schools, give teachers merit pay, and eliminate tenure and therefore “drastically slashing education costs to help balance the state’s budget without increasing taxes”. Elimination of public schools would, indeed, lower taxes.

For Gov. Christie and others, I submit that charter schools have not been empirically determined to be superior to normal public schools and they are detrimental to other public schools in terms of a decrease in funding and skewed demographics.

Public schools are required to be democratic and all students are required to be given equal opportunity and if merit pay were adopted, some students would be assigned inferior teachers which would deprive them of equal rights under the Constitution; students are required to have equally competent teachers.

Teacher Tenure exists to protect teachers from political, religious and other harassment from politicians, bigots, and those opposed to public school education. Tenured teachers CAN BE AND SHOULD BE fired by Boards of Education if they are shown to be incompetent teachers in a FAIR HEARING; the burden of proof is on the Board of Education and not the Governor or teachers or teachers unions.

The problem is that Boards of Education do not agree on what an incompetent teacher is and are afraid to fire teachers because of their own incompetency.

In all honesty, Teachers and teachers’ unions are the first to agree that incompetent teachers should be fired AFTER A FAIR HEARING; but the responsibility for eliminating incompetent teachers is with the Board of Education and the Administration. Actually, teachers and teachers’ unions are totally disgusted with Boards and Administrators who do not get rid of incompetent teachers; incompetent teachers reflect negatively on the entire teaching profession.

It is ludicrous that Gov. Christie, Boards of Education, and Administrators blame teachers, unions, and tenure for incompetent teachers. It isn’t so!

Gov. Christie should shut the hell up and listen to the teachers’ unions; teachers unions are made up of professional teachers. However, teachers are employees and part of the American Labor Force. Alone teachers are government employees that are vulnerable to bigotry, politics, and harassment; united they stand as a force. A union teacher does not stand alone.

Gov. Christie and the John Birch Society evidently hate public schools because they are democratic and admittedly expensive to taxpayers; the alternative is private schools that indoctrinate students in a particular ideology and exist only for parents that can afford it.

I am a retired lifelong public school teacher and proud. Unfortunately, I am very much aware of the much too frequent occurrences of teacher harassment suffered by public school teachers; therefore, I understand the importance of teacher tenure to the public schools. If a person studies the history of public schools, they understand.

Gov. Christie would set public education back 200 years or eliminate public education altogether, which just might be his goal; elimination of public education would drastically lower taxes which is apparently is Gov. Christie’s primary intent; he does not appear to want quality public schools. Americans must decide whether or not they want public education and are willing to pay for it.

The public should consider that if they woke up tomorrow and there were no public schools or public school teachers, would it make a difference in America and in their lives. Nothing is ever free, including public education.

How can an intelligent human being say, “I condemn all acts of violence,” and at the same time condone and defend their statements about “Second Amendment Remedies” to political issues; obviously, with Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle, you are not dealing with an intelligent human being! Yet Sharon Angle won a Republican primary election to become a candidate for the US Senate.

For me, he Republican Party has and should have lost all respect with its candidate like the Angles and Palins. If the Democrats were equally guilty, they should be subject to the same scrutiny; they were not, they were the victims. Like the Communist Party, the American democratic Republic must look to its own survival and declare the Republican Party a threat to violently overthrow our democratic government and is therefore illegal, just as the Communist Party was declared illegal.

When I became a public school teacher in California, I was REQUIRED to declare, under oath, that I was not then nor had ever been, a member of the Communist Party, because the Communist Party advocated the violent overthrow of American Government. At that time, as a veteran of service in the US Air Force who had taken an oath to defend America and the Constitution, I resented having to take that ‘teacher’ oath because I was presumed guilty until taking the oath of innocence and even then, I appeared to be suspect. It is important to note that this teachers’ oath was NOT considered violating my First Amendment Right to Free Speech.

Today, Republican candidates for Federal office portray political opponents through cross hairs, talk about “lock and load” in opposition to their opponents, encourage supporters to use “Second Amendment Rights” instead of ballots, and tell supporters to “take out Harry Reid”, the President Pro Tem of the US Senate. How can anyone look at this as other than advocating the violent overthrow of American democratic government?

For me, the saddest aspect of this issue is that these Republican “Nuts” actually win votes and are a serious threat to the American democratic Republic. How long will America allow Republicans to threaten opponent candidates and voters with violent consequences? How long will Americans tolerate the Republican threat to their American democracy?

The Republicans attempt to defend themselves with the Constitution’s First Amendment; they should be apprized that the First Amendment does not cover ALL SPEECH; it has been resolved that crying “FIRE” in a crowded theater is not protected by the First Amendment. Neither is advocating the violent overthrow of the government.

The Republican Party has refused to denounce these Republican threats of violence and instead has chosen to defend the behavior of candidates like Angle and Palin. Republicans have long since ceased to be the party of Abraham Lincoln. Instead, the Republican Party has become a threat to American democracy; some Republicans, like John Birch Society members, have indicated their disdain for democracy itself.

Members of the Republican Party who disagree with the Republican Party’s defense of Republican vitriolic and violent behavior, should leave the party immediately; this includes many friends of mine.  Unfortunately, respectable members of the Republican Party have become a minority without recourse and need to stand up and show their disapproval of what the Republican Party represents today.

Perhaps Republicans and all political candidates should be required to take a solemn oath to uphold American democracy and repudiate violence against their political opponents.

Americans need to quit ignoring threats and face the reality of threats.

It appears to be necessary for me to explain this, my latest post on Quixotic Tales; this post represents very, very serious thought on my own part and it was difficult for me to reach the point where I felt obligated to face reality and what I consider a serious threat to my American democratic Republic.  This post is not something that I ever wanted to have to write, nor did I enjoy writing it, nor did it please me to write it.

We Americans have come to tolerate mistakes of both political parties; I do not approve of that.  However, I cannot with a clear conscience ignore a serious threat to my country; the political distress that I have experienced in the last decades of my life has reached its limits for me.

In all of my life, I have never hated the Republican Party; in the past, I have accepted and admired many Republican statesmen elected in American history. One of my favorite Presidents has always been Abraham Lincoln from my native home in Illinois; if he were running for office today I would gladly vote for him.

My condemnation of the Republican Party in this post is not a condemnation of the Republican Party of the past; my condemnation of the Republican Party in this post is a condemnation of an entity that represents everything that I consider wrong, vile, and a threat to American society. Hatred for America’s government and threats of violence against it are something that I cannot and will not tolerate without speaking out.

This post will without doubt, stimulate and incite hatred in those who disagree. So be it!

The assassination attempt on Congresswoman Giffords, did not come as a surprise to me, in any sense, not because I am callous nor because I am pessimistic, which I am not, it was because Gabrielle Giffords is another part of America’s legacy of John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, and Robert Kennedy. Personally, I can only mourn for my American democratic Republic. I cannot save the Republic, no one can rescue it; the enemies of the democratic process just win.

It is my belief that my beloved nation was lost when I experienced the assassination of President Kennedy; the Dallas newspaper that greeted the President’s arrival in Dallas that day contained a full page ad of political diatribe and vitriolic political commentary. There was never any doubt in my mind that successful, competent, and beloved American political leaders are assassinated by their enemies who are unable to win a democratic election; it is the same enemies that engage in hatred and vitriolic commentary about the victim. In any assassination, investigators immediately look for suspects that hate the victim and benefit from the assassination; it is a truism.

If American politics are driven by people hating highly respected leaders like John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy, and Gabrielle Giffords, what good can ever come of America? American democracy is not a positive force if hate and bigotry can so easily deny the democratic majority of citizens of their most trusted and respected leadership.

As I watched the television screen Saturday and the details of the assassination attempt on Congresswoman Giffords unfolded, the only positive that I found in the broadcast were the words of the investigating Sheriff Clarence W. Dupnik.

“There’s reason to believe that this individual may have a mental issue. And I think people who are unbalanced are especially susceptible to vitriol,” he said during his televised remarks. “People tend to pooh-pooh this business about all the vitriol we hear inflaming the American public by people who make a living off of doing that. That may be free speech, but it’s not without consequences.”

Sheriff Dupnik and his words were the only cause for me to cheer as the tragedy evolved. Finally, a government leader, Sheriff Dupnic, had the courage to say what I have known all these years since the assassination of President Kennedy, hatred is the driving force in an assassin.

Since Sheriff Dupnic’s remarks, some media personalities and some elected politicians have actually condemned Sheriff Dupnik’s remarks and defended the hatred, vitriol, and bigotry that the good Sheriff condemned. In essence, these people are defending the assassin’s purpose. They along with the assassin are the enemies of Congressman Gifford; they share the ideology of the assassin that brought on the tragedy.

These defenders of political hatred call Duplic’s words, “speculation”; but the adjective speculation is merely an adjective used to detract from the truth. It certainly is not speculation that an assassin is the enemy of the victim. I can only wonder how and why these media personalities who defend hatred, vitriol, and bigotry are privileged to appear on of national television; I can only wonder how these elected politicians of the same ilk managed to win the vote of a majority of the voters.

Sheriff Dupnic spoke of the consequences of vitriolic expressions of hatred and bigotry; Dupnic’s concern became apparent in a news item quoting Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a statement to Arab nations. The American Secretary of State said: “Look, we have extremists in my country. A wonderful, incredibly brave young woman Congress member, Congresswoman Giffords was just shot in our country. We have the same kinds of problems. So rather than standing off from each other, we should work to try to prevent the extremists anywhere from being able to commit violence. …The extremists and their voices, the crazy voices that sometimes get on the TV, that’s not who we are, that’s not who you are, and what we have to do is get through that and make it clear that that doesn’t represent either American or Arab ideas or opinions.”

Finally, no less than the American Secretary of State has told the world that the American democratic Republic is no better than any other sovereign nation. America has no reason to be proud today; America is not beautiful today. That is the consequence of political vitriol that inflames troubled minds, just as Sheriff Dupnik said.
