Perhaps, Dr. Martin Luther King would find it only fitting that Glen Beck, who defames America’s First Black President as a racist, would claim his own US Constitutional Rights to mock Rev. King’s dream on the same steps of the Lincoln Memorial.  What an exhibition of decadence in the American democratic Republic; another day to live in infamy.

The American democratic Republic fell victim to two great tragedies in the first decade of the 21st Century; it is still early to render conclusions, however, it appears that the great Constitutional American democratic Republic has failed miserably and will cease to be a beacon to other people of the world, who would want to be free.

On September 11, 2001, people around the world were shocked when a group of terrorist under Osama bin Laden managed to commandeer commercial passenger planes and crashed them into the World Trade Center of New York City and the Pentagon of Washington D.C. Almost 3,000 innocent people died in the attack , they were people of all races, religions, and ethnicity. The purpose of bin Laden’s attack, was to retaliate for America’s defiling the Muslim Holy Land in Saudi Arabia by building an American military base there in 1991, despite the objection of devoted Muslims.

The atrocity was recognized around the world and there was an outpouring of sympathy for America from all over of the world, from every ethnic and religious people including Muslims, with the exception of the extremists that perpetrated the act.

The initial reaction of Americans was typically American. Our Republic had suffered a hideous attack and we must join together, despite any political differences, and provide help and sympathy to the victims; that is the American way. America rallied behind a newly elected and contentious, President who failed to gain the support of the majority of American voters.

The reaction of the new President, George W. Bush, unfortunately, was to invade and occupy Afghanistan without a declaration of war which is a violation of International Law. Afghanistan had nothing to do with the atrocious attack, except that Osama bin Laden was hiding in remote parts of Afghanistan.

America began its attack on Afghanistan by carpet bombing those innocent people, using B-52 bombers and anti-personnel and incendiary bombs, which drew the ire of the rest of the world and especially the Islamic people of the world since Afghans are primarily Muslim. America began to lose the sympathy of those who originally had expressed sympathy for the atrocious terrorist attack on New York and Washington; foreign relations would only continue to worsen.

Briefly, in 2003, America would invade and occupy Muslim Iraq without a declaration of war, under the false pretenses that Iraq was involved in the attack on America and Iraq posed an imminent danger to America; consequently, on this occasion, America totally lost the support of all of the rest of the world.

Nine years later, 2010, the American democratic Republic suffered its second great tragedy, which might very well bring down the Constitutional American democratic Republic.

A congregation of Muslims, Cordoba Mosque, sought and received permission to build a Muslim Cultural Center, with a prayer room, two blocks from the ground zero of the Twin Towers, victim of the November 11, 2001 atrocious attack by bin Laden; the Muslim Cordoba Mosque already were occupying a building that was four blocks from the Twin Towers, ground zero.

A huge number of shameful chauvinist, bigoted Americans rose up in a militant and aggressive opposition to the building of the Muslim Manhattan Cordoba Cultural Center because they claimed that it defiled the sanctified grounds of the Twin Towers, ground zero, of the bin Laden Attack; ironically, these objections were aping the bin Laden objection to building the American military base in Muslim Holy Land

The greatest tragedy is that these opponents of building the so called “Ground Zero Mosque” are admittedly aware that their behavior is in direct opposition to the U.S. Constitution, First and Fourteenth Amendment Rights of American citizens who are of the Muslim faith; opponents of the Cordoba Mosque would compromise all American Constitutional Rights and values for the mosque’s opponent’s bigoted, hateful opposition to Islam. Should these opponents of the mosque have their way, they will have violated the essence of the American democratic Republic; the Republic will never be the same.

In a sense, the atrocity of the chauvinist, basically Christian Americans opposition to the mosque has succeeded where the Muslim, bin Laden, had failed; chauvinist American Christians have brought down the American democratic Republic.

Religion is inherently intolerant. Religion is not established by empirical evidence; religion is spiritual and cannot be proven. Religion is accepted by believers on faith and faith alone; each religion believes their God is the only true God and all other religions are WRONG. Hence, all religions are intolerant.

Today religion is a business and each God in incorporated; Churches are a corporation. Churches compete for the lambs (contributors). Members are a “Product” and the only profits (source of revenue by law). Worship is the marketplace; the DOW is up or down based on membership.

Our founding fathers knew all about religion and religious persecution; the First Amendment was written to protect Americans from Religion as well as providing Americans with freedom to practice religion. Hooray for the founding fathers!

AMENDMENT I: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the Right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

God bless America and the authors of the U.S. Constitution.

“Peace is not only better than war, but infinitely more arduous.” George Bernard Shaw

Why doesn’t the President of the United States have a Secretary of Peace; it is not the same as Secretaries of Defense and State. Defense deals only with war and State deals only with the occupation of foreign nations. No one uses the word peace in America!

Yes, I did indeed read Sam Harris’, “What Obama Got Wrong About the Mosque”, in The Daily Beast, 8/13/10. Actually, I wrote a comment that did not appear because Beast screens comments and mine was apparently too controversial; therefore I will have my say here. This is my review of the Harris commentary.

First, I would remind San Harris and other protesters of the Manhattan Mosque that what started this Holy Crusade of the two Bush President’s, was President George Herman Bush, building a military base in the Muslim Holy Land in Saudi Arabia in 1991; America’s military base, was considered to be defiling the Muslim Holy Land and this was the incentive for bin Laden’s Terrorist Attack of 911 (see US 911 Commission Report). Not that this excuses bin Laden’s Terrorism, but Americans do not seem to remember bin Laden’s purpose (and perhaps that is not just an accident); American should realize, however, that the Americans are the only people in the world who do not understand that his Holy War was started by America, in 1991 in Saudi Arabia.

It is therefore with great consternation that I find American Right Wing-Nut, Christians believing that this Muslin cultural center and mosque, built two blocks from the tragic World Trade Center site, is defiling American sacred Christian ground; they should realize that there were also American Muslims who perished in the disaster of the Twin Towers. God help me to understand the dimwit reasoning of these Right Wing-Nuts.

America is now engaged in a 21st Century, Christian Crusade against 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, including the 5 million American Muslims who are bono fide American citizens, some of whom live in Manhattan and want to build a Muslim cultural center.

Harris should also understand that America did not hate Muslims when the USA, under President Reagan, funded both bin Laden and the Taliban, to expel the Russians from Afghanistan.

However, America’s defiling of Muslim Holy Land was offensive to the Muslim Faith. Certainly, I do not believe that Bush One’s debacle excused bin Laden, but I think it would be invaluable for Americans to attempt to understand the actual cause of 911, and not react in the same way that Muslims that they detest, did.

President George W. Bush’s blunder in his actual referral to his wars against Afghanistan and Iraq “a Crusade”, does not speak well for the American democratic Republic, either. Bush’s “Crusade” remark was ignored in America but was prominent in the Muslim World.

So therefore, Sam Harris saying, “There is no such thing as Islamophobia,” is utterly ludicrous and Sam apparently has not been keeping touch with Rupert Murdoch’s Faux News and other media.

Furthermore, Sam Harris says, “And, prejudice against Muslims or Arabs, purely because of the accident of their birth, is despicable.” But, Sam then contradicts himself and launches into a defense for this gross American bigotry and intolerance of Muslims.

The worse statement of Harris is, “Nor is it a sign of intolerance to notice when people are simply not being honest about what they and their co-religionist believe”

Of course this is intolerance; religion is based upon faith and faith alone, no empirical evidence can substantiate a spiritual belief and since there can be only one true God, anyone believing in any other God, must of necessity be wrong. Consequently, all religions are inherently intolerant of all other religions; that intolerance is exactly why we have the First Amendment to the Constitution, not just for the freedom to practice our religion but to protect us from oppression of all other religions. America’s forefathers were very much aware of religious intolerance and religious persecution. They knew what they were doing when the wrote the First Amendment.

In the mater of the Manhattan Mosque, there can be no controversy. The matter is covered by the U.S. Constitution and the First and Fourteenth Amendments; American Muslims have First Amendment Freedom of Religion Rights and Fourteenth Amendment Equal Protection of the Law Rights. It is ludicrous for the Republican Right Wing-Nuts to demand repeal of the Fourteenth Amendment based on the building of a Mosque.

Harris admits to the Constitutional Rights of the Muslims to build the Manhattan Mosque, but through some hocus-pocus extra Constitutional baloney, he opposes the Constitutional guarantees. There are no buts in the Constitution.

America never seems to learn. Americans in World War II interned all Japanese-American citizens for no legitimate reason except they were of Japanese heritage; this was in 1941 and is today a horrible embarrassment to the American democratic Republic. Protesting the Muslim Cultural Center, 2 blocks form ground zero of the World Trade Center catastrophe of 2001, is an embarrassment to the American democratic Republic, today and will be forever.

America’s First and Fourteenth Amendments are the end factor; no one disputes the Rights of American Muslims to build a cultural center in Manhattan. Why in the name of anyone’s God is this controversy continuing. Sam Harris is wrong to believe there is an obligation for America to suspend the Constitutional Rights of any Americans for the sake of the bigotry and intolerance of others. Harris shames the Constitution and the legacy of Abraham Lincoln and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.

If a majority of Americans oppose the Manhattan Mosque, I must remind the protesting majority that The Constitutional Rights are there to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority; that is called, Liberty.

This is a comment I felt compelled to respond to: “this (the Muslim Community Center and prayer room in Manhattan 2 blocks from 911 ground zero ) was a bad idea from the start and continues to get worse. Again, it’s not about whether Muslims CAN build on this site, it’s about whether they should. David Patterson tried to be statesmanlike and the response speaks volumes about the folks behind the mosque. If you want to pretend this is a freedom of religion issue, feel free to continue with the self-delusion. “

This is my response to the comment: You are so obviously evil, crass, and appear to be living proof that the American Christian and Judaic society of today, is totally and, truly evil, selfish, and without any sense of compassion for the rest of mankind; you absolutely lack the ability to have any compassion whatsoever, for any person you disagree with; you are incapable of love, and the commandment from your God, demon, or whatever must be “Hate your enemies with a vengeance and never stop”!

It appears that the last 8 years of the hatred and fiendish G.W. Bush sadistic administration of aggression, invasion, occupation, shock and awe bombing of innocent women and children, and torture of prisoners of war has created an American monstrosity that threatens to consume civilization and the world,. If there really is a real God, may that God strike down the destructive hatred in your hearts and restore sanity and peace to the people of America and the world.

You are no better than bin Laden who perpetrated an atrocity against the America people in retaliation for Pres. Bush Sr. defiling Muslim holy land by building a military base in the midst of it. Please, please find fault with my response to your comment or pray for forgiveness for your sorry disloyal American ass.

Analysis: Does my response to the comment sound too harsh for a response to the statement that approves of violating the Rights of Americans to satisfy the hatred of other Americans, for religious reason? If my response is unnecessarily harsh, what would be appropriate, and just what is the U.S. Constitutional Bill of Rights worth? The person making the comment states naively and viciously, “If you want to pretend this is a freedom of religion issue, feel free to continue with the self-delusion.”

My answer to appropriateness is that my Rights and the Rights of my fellow Americans under the U.S. Constitution are not a delusion and if they are a delusion, then America would not be worth fighting and dying for and I would never have taken the pledge to defend and protect the U.S. Constitution when I was drafted to serve my country. The issue of loyal American Muslims building a religious facility in Manhattan, New York, is purely a matter of America’s Freedom of Religion Rights and those that oppose those Rights are as much the enemy of the American democratic Republic, as bin Laden is.

Fifty-some years ago, as a part of the Civil Rights Movement, I was a member of the San Diego Fair Housing Council, associated with the local Council of Churches, in San Diego California. One of the issues that took up most of the agenda, was not San Diego’s Black Ghetto, instead, it was the most exclusive part of the city, La Jolla. At that time, every piece of property in La Jolla, had deeds with covenants that the owner of that property could not sell it to any person of the Jewish Faith. Exclusive La Jolla was literally and legally exclusive. There were no Jews, nana, living in La Jolla.

When Dr. Salk, a Jew and discoverer of the Salk Polio Vaccine, chose La Jolla as site for his Salk Institute, in 1960, on what was then Federal Property, the good people of La Jolla filed a petition to prohibit Salk’s Institute from building on that Federal Property.

Today, the real estate covenants precluding Jews have been eliminated as a violation of the U.S. Constitution and the Salk Institute is the pride of San Diego.

Today, it deeply grieves me to hear people, of high rank in the USA, oppose the location of a Muslim Community Center, 2 blocks from the site of the 9-11 terrorists attack. To me, the action of those opposing the Muslim Community Center negates the atrocity aspect of the bin Laden attack on the World Trade Center.

OK, I was pissed! A Democrat wrote a blog comment condemning “Professional Leftist Democrats”; this was my response:

U—-, you are not Professional Left and you are not even a little bit left and you have no clue what is going on in the world. Please refrain from trying to represent me. You were with the Democrats who were defeated in the 2000 Presidential Election by a MINORITY and the politicized Republican Supreme Court, and you were defeated in 2004 by Republican manufactured Diebold voting machines! You had nothing to do with the success of Democrats in 2006, that was Howard Dean. You kissed Hillary’s ass in 2008. and Barack Obama won.
Real Democrats elected President Obama in 2008; shut your mouth!

The lead headline in today’s news read, Despite criticism from Republicans and others, President Barack Obama said Wednesday he has “no regrets” over the comments he made about the right of Muslims to build an Islamic center near the former site of the World Trade Center in New York.

At this point, I breathe a sigh of relief; the number one Christian in America, the President of the United States, has upheld the Constitution of the United States and religious freedom plus the Christian God’s commandment to love your neighbors and your enemies. But, I am concerned however that when I listen to Faux News, Right Wing-Nut Republicans, TeaBaggers, and Fundamentalist Christian leaders in the same news of the day, saying, “The only good Muslim is a dead Muslim”; this is bad news to me since I have friends and some relatives who are Muslim and I love them very much.

Actually, my friends and relatives who are Muslim are, in my estimation, more compassionate and loving people than a majority of my American, Republican Christian blood-relatives. This is quite discerning to me.

Personally, I was brought up a Christian with Christian values that are very different from the Christians values that I observe in today’s world. As a consequence, in recent years I have disassociated myself from actual Christian Churches because I discovered that the organized church is more big business and concern for wealth and political power than it is for Christian love and fellowship; I became officially, a non-affiliated whatever.

I can and do personally associate with Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, and Christian friends and relatives. I am completely satisfied with my own status but some friends and some family have considered me a heretic, a lost soul, a liberal, and to some that I am a terrorist. However, I sleep well at night and I am on a good speaking relationship with God; we daily communicate and have great one-on-one discussions of issues.

In political matters, I voted for President Obama in 2000, and those of us who did, discovered that we liberal democrats were a big majority in America. The Democratic candidates who won t on Obama’s Coattail, won a huge majority of both Houses of Congress. We, Democratic voters, are the democratic majority in America.

We believe that our American democracy has provided America, today, with a liberal democratic government, like that of our Constitutional forefathers. Unfortunately, some of those Democratic Party candidates were faking it, and proved to be obstacles to our cause of democracy and liberty. Unfortunately, the Democratic Party will accept anyone as a Democratic candidate and consequently Democrats, as a political party, often shoot themselves in the foot.

Let me quickly define liberal democrat with an English dictionary definition:

Liberal: “not narrow in opinion or judgment; tolerant.”

Democrat: “one who believes in or practices democracy.” Democracy, of course, is a form of government where the majority rules but liberty (Bill of Rights) exists to protect the right of the minority.

It has always been my opinion that it was a good thing and patriotic to be a ‘liberal democrat’ in America. It was therefore appalling for me when President G. W. Bush used liberal democrat as a ‘bad’ word; President G. W. Bush was a bad man and a bad President, in my opinion, because of this and other political decisions he made.

With the election of President Obama, I believed that a majority of Americans had spoken, with their votes, and America would become once again a liberal democratic Republic as our Constitutional forefathers had intended.

Therefore, it is with utter disgust that I find the Republican, Neocon, Right Wing-Nut, Tea Bagger minority make an issue of members of the Muslim faith establishing a Muslim Social Center and Prayer Room in Manhattan, New York City in America; This is definitely in opposition to the American’s Constitutional Right to Freedom of Religion and is in direct violation of the United States Constitution, which I hold sacred.

Members of my family fought valiantly (winning medals) for the defense and protection of the American liberal democratic Republic in World War II and I highly respect them and I am proud of their service. Actually, I was conscripted and served in the United States Air Force myself, and I considered it a moral responsibility fulfilled; I am proud to have taken the oath to defend and protect my democratic Republic and to have served in its military in that capacity.

It is with great consternation that I have seem my American democratic Republic misbehave in recent years, engaging in acts of aggression in the Mid East to fulfill the American selfishness and greed for oil, knowingly defiling the Holy Land of Islam by deploying American military personnel there, spying on American Citizens without a legal warrant in violation of the US Constitution, and engaging in the invasion and occupation of sovereign Muslim nations that posed no threat to America without a declaration of war in violation of International Law agreed to by Congress and therefore constituting the Law of the Land in accordance with the U.S. Constitution.

America today appears to be in a state of anarchy: one national TV network, Faux News, defying the US Constitution and defaming the duly elected President as a racist; armed radical extremists defying the US Constitution, the Acts of Congress, and Congress itself; and extremists protesting and demanding the prohibition of the US Constitutional Rights to members of the Muslim Faith.

There comes a time, when Americans must make a decision; do Americans believe in democracy and liberty or not? Do Americans believe in the U.S. Constitutions or not? Do Americans believe that a majority should rule in America or not?

Just what in the name of God, do Americans believe in? Is it a matter of which of the many Gods will prevail in America or is it a United States Constitutional issue beyond the realm of mystical spiritualism?

This from Wikipedia,

“First they came … is a famous statement attributed to Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) about the inactivity of German intellectuals following the Nazi rise to power and the purging of their chosen targets, group after group. The text expresses, in a condensed form, the understanding of history presented by Niemöller in a January 6, 1946 speech before representatives of the Confessing Church in Frankfurt.[1]

“THEY CAME FIRST for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist.

THEN THEY CAME for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist.

THEN THEY CAME for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew.

and by that time no one was left to speak up.”

I have always revered this statement by Niemoeller since I first read it years ago; giving his words a few little twists and changes, I discovered his statement sums up my feelings about America today:

and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist.

THEN THEY CAME for the trade unionists,

and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist.

THEN THEY CAME for the Muslims and the Mexicans,

and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t Muslim or Mexican.

and by that time no one was left to speak up.

My apologies to Niemoeller for the plagiarism but somehow, I think he would understand.
